Just Us Girls Challenge 273

http://justusgirlschallenge.blogspot.com/2014/12/just-us-girls-273-photo-week.html
Hello everyone,

I have been enjoying looking at the Just Us Girls challenges for several months and finally decided that I would join in the fun.

The picture above was the inspiration for this weeks challenge. If you'd like to see the design teams and others entries just click the picture. Why don't you think about joining in yourself.

I'll give you an update later on why I have not been blogging for the last several months.
It feels good to be back.

May you have a safe New Year's Eve and an upcoming year full of blessings.

Operation Write Home FUNdraiser Bloghop

Welcome to my blog. Wow! Irit did some awesome designs.
If you are just starting the bloghop there are links below that will take you to the beginning.

I cut the die cut three times, once in red, blue and gold. I then used the gold as the base. I cut out the blue and red and glued them over the top of the gold die cut. Then added the gold stars and added the red star to the eagle. The background was done with a sponge and scallop punch of scrape paper to use as a stencil. I added a couple of mat layers and this card is done. I plan to use it as an Any Hero card.
The Die-Version dies are so easy to use. I used mine in a Big Shot but I am sure they would work in just about any die cutting machine. I had no problem with getting the die cut paper to separate from the die itself. These are very detailed die cuts. I just loved using them.

With this card I tried to make it appropriate for a male or female recipient. I first cut out the blue layer. I then did a yellow layer for the hearts and 2 pink layers to make the die cut look layered plus a layer of black for the letters. Add some layers with pattern paper and card stock, a little ribbon and you have a quick and easy Miss You card.

I can see using this die a lot. Not just for Operation Write Home cards but personal cards I send out to loved ones.

If you are not familiar with Operation Write Home, our mission is to support our armed forces by sending blank handmade greeting cards to write home on, as well as "AnyHero" cards of gratitude to encourage them. You can find more information for newcomers at: http://operationwritehome.org/welcome/
Patti is the next one on the hop.

Thanks for stopping and shopping.

Card Bowl 2014 - Our Daily Bread Designs February Challenge

Yay, I did it all three of the Card Bowl 2014 challenges will be completed with this post.

The challenge was to use Brown as our prominent color in a masculine card. Does anyone else have problems doing masculine cards besides me? It has really been a challenge to do 3 this weekend.

Here is my card.

It is hard to see in the photo but two of flags have wording. One says Hi and the next says Love.

The great thing about the Our Daily Bread Design Challenge at Operation Write Home is for every 25 cards posted in the inlinkz a large priority box of cards is shipped free courtesy of Our Daily Bread to our deployed heroes around the world (limited to 2 boxes). Oh and did I say there is a gift certificate given to someone who adds a link to the inlinkz? Go check it out here.

Thanks for stopping by.

Welcome Back.

Well I got my cards done before the Super Bowl started. I am using the commercials now to get them posted.

Here is my card for the #210 OWH Card Sketch. We were challenged to do a masculine card with this sketch.

Here is my entry for the challenge. I feel like this card isn't complete but my mojo isn't giving me anything right now.

Hawks are winning ! 8-0 end of first quarter.

Thanks for stopping.

Card Bowl 2014 Challenge

Hello Super Bowl Fans,

At our house I am the football fan so I'm hoping to get all my cards for the challenge done early. I don't want to miss the Seahawks big win!

Here's the play rule book on the challenge.

Participate in challenges all three days by making a card and linking it up this weekend – and you’ll be entered in a drawing for a flat rate envelope filled with stampy goodness! Challenges can be completed anytime over the weekend – winners will be picked late Sunday night.

  1. Masculine Ode to the teams! Make a masculine card – for men, teens, or little boys – in any OWH-approved theme. And make your card somehow reflect either the Seahawks or Broncos. Use their colors, something about their city, their mascot – get creative! It doesn’t have to be a sports/football-related card.
  2. Join in the ODBD challenge on this blog SATURDAY and make yours a masculine card. (Link up on that page.)
  3. Join in the Sunday Sketch challenge on this blog on SUNDAY and make yours a masculine card. (Link up on that page.)

When we announce winners Monday morning, we’ll also tell you who OWHers had picked for the game – ie how many went for the Seahawks in the InLinkz below, and how many for the Broncos!

If you click on this link it will take you to the fun video with the details of the challenge. (plus there is a prize for 2 people posting on all three challenges)  OWH Card Bowl 2014

Here is my card for the first challenge...

{p.s. Thank you Lisa  for the die cut}

And if there is any doubt in your mind at all who I am cheering for here is a card for Shawn my son in Seattle who is a BIG Seahawks fan.

See you all later!
