Great Gift Box #6

Hi Friends,

Well  I'm on my way to Iowa . I need to be at the airport at 5 a.m. Wow that is early.

Mathew will be holding down the home fort and taking care of the dogs.

Below you will find a link to make this wonderful box holder. You only need one piece of 8-1/2" × 11" piece of cardstock. The scoring in inches is 3, 4, 10 on the long side. 1,2, 6-1/2, 7-1/2 on the short side.

Here is a link to explain how to make this wonderful box.

Thank you Jo for the great tutorial.

Have a blessed day.

I will post as often as I can.

Great Gift Card #5

Hi Friends,

Here are the directions for the fifth card from the Great Gift Idea #1.

Talk about easy. Here it is. If you have DSP to use up this is a fun way to do it.

You will need the following to make this card:

A Basic Black card base at 4-¼ “ x 5-½”
Very Vanilla Piece at 4-⅛” x 5-⅜”
Designer Series Paper (DSP) piece at 4”  x 5-¼ “
Scrap piece of Very Vanilla for your sentiment
A piece of Very Vanilla to stamp the flower and leaves
Crumb Cake, Basic Black and Lost Lagoon ink pads
Picture Perfect Stamp Set
Timeless Textures Stamp Set
Silver Thread

Stamp your flower in Lost Lagoon and leaves in crumb, cut out by hand. Stamp your sentiment in Stazon Black ink. I used the timeless texture check stamp and splotches to give some added interest to the sentiment strip. When attaching your flower to the sentiment strip; use foam tape on the back. Use this to attach the silver thread. Just make loops with the thread. It will add an interesting element to the card. Attach your leaves with glue or double sided tape.

Begin by putting the Very Vanilla mat on the Basic Black card base, the Very Vanilla mat then the DSP and finally the flower and sentiment.

Need help just leave a comment.

Great Gift Card #4

Hi Friends,

Happy Thanksgiving. We have so much to be thankful for here in the USA. I personally am thankful for a loving God, freedom to practice whatever religion we want, and of course my family and friends.

Here are the directions for the fourth card from the Great Gift Idea #1.

Now I must admit this is one of my favorite cards in the group. It looks complicated but it is really easy.

You will need the following to make this card:

A Crumb Cake card base at 4-¼ “ x 5-½”.
Basic Black piece at 3-⅞” x 5-⅛”
Very Vanilla piece at 3-¾” x 5”
Scrap piece of brown cardstock cut in the shape of a branch
A piece of Very Vanilla to stamp the hummingbird
Small flower punch, small piece of Very Vanilla cardstock  and 3 pearls.
A piece of blue ribbon
Crumb Cake and Lost Lagoon ink pads
Picture Perfect Stamp Set
Timeless Textures Stamp Set

Stamp your hummingbird and cut out by hand. Sponge a scrap piece of Very Vanilla cardstock with Lost Lagoon and Crumb Cake ink. Punch out three flowers and add pearls to the center. Set aside.

Using the flourish from the Timeless Textures set stamp the Very Vanilla 3-¾” x 5” piece. I stamped off on a scrap piece of paper to make the blue ink lighter before stamping onto the Very Vanilla. I used the rectangular stamp and used Crumb Cake ink around the bottom and right side of the Very Vanilla piece. I then took a sponge and added some Lost Lagoon and Crumb Cake on the same piece until I thought it looked pleasing. Add this to the Crumb Cake card basic.

A fun, fabulous card!

Let me know if you need anything.

Have  a blessed Thanksgiving.

Great Gift Card #3

Hi Friends,

I’m so glad you are joining me today for my third card  from the Great Gift Idea #1.

So what is your favorite sport this time of the year? For me it's Iowa Hawkeye basketball. I may not live in Iowa any longer but I am still a huge Iowa fan. I will be traveling to Iowa later this month and hope to catch a game while I am there.

All supplies are from Stampin Up unless noted otherwise.

The colors used throughout this project are Lost Lagoon, Basic  Black, and Very Vanilla.

The card base is 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" from Very Vanilla.

You will need:

One piece of Lost Lagoon cut 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" this is for a matting behind the main image.
One piece of Very Vanilla cardstock cut to 3-¾” x 5”.

3 sequins of your choice. I used silver in my example.

Black Stazon ink or another Archival fast drying ink.

For this card you place the smaller piece of Very Vanilla card stock center on the Very Vanilla card base. You stamp the three flowers in the corner of the smaller piece so it hangs over the edge. When  you remove this smaller piece part of the flower should remain on the card base. You will then attach the Lost Lagoon piece to the smaller piece and then on top of the card base as shown in the picture.

You final step is to stamp the sentiment of your choice with Black Stazon ink and glue down the sequins.

Another quick card for a WOW finish.

If you have any questions be sure to contact me.

Great Gift Card #2

Hi Friends,

I’m so glad you are joining me today for my second card in from the Great Gift Idea #1.

It is so gloomy today. Fogging and misty. It’s been a few months since I’ve seen a hummingbird and warmer days. How is the weather where you are?

All supplies are from Stampin Up unless noted otherwise.

The colors used throughout this project are Lost Lagoon, Basic  Black, Very Vanilla and Crumb Cake.

The card base is 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" from Crumb Cake.

You will need:

One piece of Designer Series Paper (aka DSP) measuring 4” x 5-¼”. I chose a subtle pattern so it would not upstage the stamped hummingbird.

The cut out circle piece from card #1. If you did not make card #1 the circle measures approximately 3”.

A scrap of vellum for the sentiment plus 2 staples.

Black Stazon ink or another Archival fast drying ink.

To begin the card I would stamp the greeting on the vellum and set it aside to dry. If you are using the Stampin Up Picture Perfect hummingbird I would recommend stamping it on a scrap piece of paper before doing it on your circle. This is a wonderfully detailed stamp but it  can be hard to line up the first time - hence practicing. Once you have the image on your final piece of  Very Vanilla cardstock hand cut it out.

Now you are ready to put your card together. Oops silly me I forgot to have you cut out the banners. The black banner is wider than the blue banner. I used scraps I had leftover from making the card holder that will be shared on another day.

I began completing the card by gluing down the banners, the hummingbird circle, stapling the vellum sentiment and finally attaching it all to the card base.

If you have any questions be sure to contact me.

Great Gift Card #1

Here is the first card from the Great Gift Idea #1.
All supplies are from Stampin Up unless noted otherwise.

This card was so quick and easy to make. It makes a great WOW card with little effort.

The colors for cardstock I used are Lost Lagoon (retired) and Crumb Cake.

The card base is 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" from Lost Lagoon, Any blue cardstock would look great.

You will need 2 pieces of Very Vanilla cardstock cut at 3-3/4" x 5".  One piece has a 3" circle cut out.
(The circle is saved for the second card in the series.) The second piece is run through the Big Shot with the Gently Falling embossing folder. I lightly sponged the dots with a sponge and crumb cake dye ink.

The piece of Very Vanilla was sponged with Lost Lagoon and Crumb Cake to make a "beachy" image. I used post it notes for the horizon line.

The sentiment was stamped on a scrap strip of Lost Lagoon and cut trimmed into a banner. I used Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.

The starfish was stamped with Crumb Cake and cut out by hand.

In putting the card together I first attached the circle piece to the beach scene piece. I added this to the card base. I then attached the starfish image with clue on three legs and foam tape on two legs. Place within the circle as you like. I then attached the banner with double sided tape.

If you have any questions please let me know.

Great Gift Idea #1

Hello Friends,

Here are some cards that I made a while ago that I just love. I put them together in a homemade box and gave them to my mother. I will be sharing over the next few days how each card was made.

I have been thinking each of these cards would make a great sketch for other seasonal cards. I'll need to see what I can do and share them with you.

Be sure to tell someone how much they mean to you today.

Where have I been?

Hello Friends,

It has been a long time since I have posted.

I've been on a journey that I wish on no one.

As many of my closest friends know my husband, Rick, was diagnosed with Parkinson's in dementia.
Between working full time and caring for my husband it did not leave me much time to post on this blog.

In March of this year my dear husband of 41 years left this earth. It was a very sad day for me but also one I knew was coming, it just came sooner than I had hoped. Three weeks after his passing I lost the job that I loved. I had worked there for almost 10 years. Two big events in such a short time took a great toll on my life, finances and happiness.

I learned to lean more on my faith in God the Father, Jesus his Son and the Holy Spirit. I am now able to face life with joy. My pastor and church family have been a tremendous help to me. I want to thank Judy and Ron for being with me on that dark day. You guys were the strength I needed to keep sane and placing one foot in front of the other. There are so many that have helped me along the way I can't list them all but please know I thank God for you everyday.

I am now working on getting my blog started again. I hope to be able to share wonderful paper creations and moments that will uplift you if you are going through a life changing event.

If you need prayer please let me know  I would see it as an honor to pray for you.

I love this Crumb Cake heart with accents of mint macaron and pearls. You get three pieces in this die set. The heart and 2 flowers.

Happy 2016!

Did you notice the little snow globe? I received that from my husband for Christmas.
It's the beginning of a New Year!

Boy did last year go by at the speed of light or what.

Ok confession time. I had this entry all written out but do you think I can find it. I am doing this from memory so please forgive my randomness.

I have a new project I've been working on to share with you. Do you seem to look at a stamp set and only see one way of using it? Or maybe you are like me and scan Pinterest, see the most beautiful card and copy it exactly (which is great that we can do that). Then go to try something different with it only to think it's not as good as someone else's creation. Well I am challenging myself to use Pinterest or other sites as inspiration but to make the cards I find and like, my own.

Here is my card for today. (If I had remembered where my notes were I would have given credit to the wonderful person who inspired me. If at a later date I do find my note I will edit this post.)

Did you notice the little snow globe? I received that from my husband for Christmas.
This is a very simple sketch card that can be duplicated quickly if you need allot of cards. Maybe thank you cards?

The stamp set is from the new Sale-A-Bration free products catalog. This catalog is good from January 5-March 31, 2016. It is called What I Love. I'll link the other products at the end of the post.
I colored the flower stamp with my blender pen and Calypso Coral stamp pad. I just kept the stamp pad closed and squeezed the lid enough to get a pool of ink and colored from there.
Here is a look at the inside of the card.
The "you" came from another free set in the catalog called Botanicals for You. I know this look really pink but it truly is Calypso Coral.
In order to receive one of these sets you need place a purchase for $50 before shipping and taxes. For me that is a really easy thing to do.

Here are a few details of making this card. If you have any questions just let me know.

Calypso Coral cardstock cut 8-1/2" by 5-1/2" 122925 page 139

Pretty Petals DSP 4" x 5-1/4" 138442 page 144

Very Vanilla cardstock cur 4" x 5-1/4" for inside liner 101650 page 141
Very Vanilla and Calypso Coral scrapes for the flower, leaves and sentiment

The inks used were:
